Thea Småvik Hegstad

Thea Småvik Hegstad is a graduate student in International Affairs with Development as her concentration. Her curiosity about voluntourism as a worst practice of development work emerged over the years as it was a growing phenomenon in Norway before she moved to New York in 2016. With a background in political science and a strong interest in global issues, this was the type of international phenomenon that she hoped to explore in an academic setting when choosing to pursue a masters in International Affairs at The New School.
