Hudson River Community Sailing (HRCS) develops academic success and leadership in underserved NYC youth, and provides maritime education to the city at large. We work in partnership with public high schools to teach math, science, and leadership to underserved public high school students through sailing and boat building. HRCS serves the broader community through a Community Sailing school that provides sailing lessons and a membership program. HRCS has locations in Chelsea and Inwood.
The Volunteer Coordinator is a key member of a small, hardworking, and fun staff dedicated to supporting students through a waterfront community of donors, members, and volunteers.
You will help build a community of volunteers dedicated to helping youth succeed. The Coordinator cultivates, onboards, and schedules volunteers who play an essential role in all aspects of the organization. Volunteers are some of our best ambassadors, and often become donors and supporters.
The ideal candidate is hardworking, personable, organized, enjoys fostering relationships, and is able to work across departments to support the organization’s needs. This position is one that will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment for volunteers, ensuring that their schedules are well coordinated, efficient, and satisfy both the needs of the volunteers and that of the organization.
Schedule is flexible, but ideally the coordinator is available during after school hours when programs are occurring.This is a part-time role.
