Professor Sean Jacobs is seeking a Research Assistant for Fall 2019
semester, with a possibility to continue in spring 2020. Please see

Position title: Student Research Assistant

Responsibilities:  Professor Jacobs is on sabbatical this year and the
responsible student would work on his research practice, Africa is a
Country, as a staff intern / staff writer.  The work is Africa
focused, so students with knowledge of, travel to and worked on Africa
should definitely apply. However, this will not disqualify candidates
with little or no Africa editorial or research background. Africa is a
Country identifies as broadly leftwing and Pan-Africanist. The
potential to co-author posts with Professor Jacobs also exist. The
student will be expected to do summary write ups of developments in
African politics, economics and society.  The student will also
coordinate a series of regular posts and may be tasked to do some
podcast production.

Qualifications: The desired candidate should possess excellent writing
and editorial skills, be reliable, work independently as well as in a
team. The student should also be familiar with research techniques
(summary posts will require online searches of databases, some
interviews and researching media sources.)

Requirement:  The candidate must be a full-time student,
enrolled in fall 2019. The successful student will be paid $2550.00
per semester.
