Contemporary Conflicts and Global Response class visits UNOCC

GPIA students in “Contemporary Conflicts and Global Response” class problematize and learn techniques of conflict analysis, a valuable applied skill for working in crisis zones. On Friday, April 5, the class visited the United Nations Operations and Crisis Center (UNOCC) to see the process of conflict analysis in action.

UN staff briefed the students on the workings of the 24-Hour Watch Room and the mechanics of gathering information that goes into providing situational awareness and ultimately translating it into a situational analysis, both of which are produced as part of daily intelligence brief prepared the UNOCC.
