Professor McCandless speaking at international conference on Civil Society and Peacebuilding Policy
Professor McCandless is participating in a conference “Strengthening Peacebuilding Policy through Civil Society Empowerment” this week (October 25-7), at the University of Notre Dame. The conference is gathering civil society leaders, well known peacebuilding academics and members of the international policy community, including Ibrahim Gambari (former Under-Secretary General, United Nations) and John Paul Lederach (Professor of International Peacebuilding). Dr. McCandless is speaking on the final panel on “Implications and Recommendations for Governmental Policy and Civil Society Strategy,” with panelists including Melissa Brown, the Director of the Office of Conflict Management and Mitigation for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Anne-Lise Klausen, Senior Operations Officer at the World Bank’s Fragility, Conflict and Violence Group.
A book is also being developed in conjunction with these themes, and Professor McCandless is contributing a chapter on “Pursuing Peacebuilding through Development Policy Advocacy: Civil Society and the Post 2015 Development Agenda.”
